Leadership starts in the home

Attached to the Outcome, Not the Process

Be attached to the outcome, not the process.

Fall in love with the process. That is what they say all great people have in common. They just love to put in the work, day in and day out. Is there a specific way to be a great loving parent leader? Is there one way of doing things that is going to ensure success for you as a parent? If you have been a parent for more than 10 minutes, you know the answer is no.

Parentship or being a parent leader is not an easy task. Just because something works for the Smiths down the street does not mean that is how it has to be done. Every family is different and needs different things. What your family needs daily is going to change as the family grows and evolves.

All you need to worry about is what your end goal is. What does success look like for your family? We all love the Jones’s, but just because they sing like the Von Trapp family every day does not mean that it will bring the same closeness to your family as it does for theirs. It would get a lot of fighting in my family, and the hills would be alive with anything but music.

You need things you do every day to get you closer to your family’s overall goal. However, these processes that you do daily can and should change based on what your family needs. Try new things, have fun with it, just make sure you know what you are driving for each day. Some days will be better than others, but each day make sure everyone in the family understands where we are going.
