Leadership starts in the home

Leading the Family Choir

Have you ever heard the expression, you could not carry a tune in a bucket.  Well, I am the guy that does not even have a bucket for that tune.  I was not blessed with a singing voice and that is why I have always had an appreciation for those who can sing.  Recently I had a chance to attend a choir concert at our local high school where my niece performed.  We were lucky enough to be in the audience as each grade had the chance to showcase what they had been working on this year.  We heard some talented groups perform some great songs. Don’t worry, I won’t sing them for you.  One of the things that stood Read more…

4 Ways To Improve Leadership For Your Family Today

Recently I was reading an article that said that 90% of people lack natural leadership skills.  Does that mean we are lost as parent leaders? Only 10% of us were born to be good parent leaders.  I had to read this statistic twice to let it sink in. Would you have vanilla ice cream or maybe you are someone Read more…

I love to have control.  I think it is because if something goes wrong I want to be the one to blame.  That way I don’t have to take fault in anyone else. This is what the argument was all about.  I didn’t even want to give up control of my thoughts on growth.   The good news about having an argument with yourself is that Read more…

Bad News, You Weren’t Born A Leader

Always lead with the bad news first.  So please sit down, I have something to tell you.  You were not born a leader. You were not born a good parent.  Did I crush your dreams? Well, I hope not because the good news is, nobody was.  Leaders are made not born.   If you were to take a sheet of paper and write down every good quality a leader possesses what would be on your list?  If your list is anything like mine I can pull from some of the great leaders I have had when I was younger, from my years working, and many of the organizations I have been a part of.  I can also pull from some Read more…
